CIPHC Announces Afternoon Tea

April 17, 2017

Bloomington, IL – Central Illinois Pride Health Center is hosting an Afternoon Tea Fundraiser on Sunday, April 23 at 4:00 pm at the Bistro. Our goal is to raise $2000, while Sharon ShareAlike, Ava Jae, Heavenly Rose, and Freddy Fahrenheit will entertain us. We’ll also have a 50/50 raffles and center swag for purchase.

The Central Illinois Pride Health Center has been a solace for LGBTQ youth, parents, and adults since May 2015. We are close to opening our doors. But much work is needed to make this happen. We are working towards our goal of $ 66,000 to cover our office space for the first year we are open. This fundraiser will help us inch closer to that goal.

The center’s youth group numbers have seen a monthly increase since it’s inception. Our binder program has served close to ten transgender individuals in need. And our Parents’ group has given LGBTQ parents a support network and a safe place for their kids to play. The center has been full steam ahead since the beginning. Over 1,000 people have “Liked” our Facebook page, where they can get helpful information and see our upcoming events.

The center plans to open it’s door this summer with medical and mental support along with its current social programs. We are working to be the place where the LGBTQ community and its allies in Central Illinois can go for healthcare without judgment or discrimination. For more information on our center, visit our website, http://www.cipridehealthcenter.org or contact Len Meyer at 815.893.7459. Our youth group meets every Friday evening from 6:00 pm-8:30 pm for youth 13-19 years of age.
